We are the BAGUS family – born and raised on South Lombok's shores, where the ocean has been our playground since childhood. Led by Aqila, a highly respected instructor with 15 years of experience in the local surf community, our seasoned team combines decades of wave knowledge with deep island roots. Our instructors aren't just certified teachers; we're ocean-born locals who speak good English and carry surfing wisdom in our hearts. Do I need any surfing experience to start?
Not at all! We welcome complete beginners and tailor each lesson to your skill level. Our local instructors have taught hundreds of first-timers, starting with beach safety and basic techniques before progressing to real waves. We keep groups small (max 2 students per instructor) so you get personalized attention from day one.
What's included in the lesson price?
Everything you need: quality surfboard, rashguard, transportation to the best surf spots, and professional instruction from local-born teachers. We can also pick you up and drop you off at your hotel/homestay. For open water lessons, we also include boat transport to reach the perfect waves. No hidden fees - just show up ready to surf!
How do you choose which surf spot to visit?
This is our local advantage! Born and raised on these waters, we read conditions like locals do - checking wind, tide, and swell to pick the perfect spot for your skill level each day. We also consider where other surf schools go to avoid crowded breaks. We know the best beaches not every tourist finds, ensuring you get the best waves without crowds.
Can you teach kids and families?
Absolutely! We offer specialized kids lessons and love teaching families together. Our instructors are experienced with all ages and adjust teaching methods for younger surfers. Family surf sessions create amazing bonding experiences, and we ensure everyone feels safe and confident in the water.
What if the weather or waves are bad?
With our local knowledge of Lombok's coastline, we almost always find good conditions somewhere. We have multiple backup spots and can adjust timing based on tides and weather. In the rare case conditions are truly unsuitable, we'll reschedule your lesson at no extra cost - your safety and experience come first.
